Discovery
& Design

Every JDC home starts with a conversation, not a blueprint. We sit down with you to understand how you actually live — how you use your kitchen in the morning, what your ideal Sunday afternoon looks like, where the kids' homework happens. From that, we build a program that's specific to you.

Our design team then translates your vision into a detailed set of plans and 3D renderings before a dollar is committed to construction. You'll see and approve the home before the first shovel hits the ground.

  • Site visit and evaluation
  • Design consultation
  • Space program & budget alignment
  • Architectural drawings

Selections
& Planning

This is where your home gets its character. You'll work through every selection — cabinets, countertops, tile, fixtures, flooring, trim profiles, paint — with a detailed budget tracker so you always know where you stand.

Nothing goes to contract until every selection is made and every cost is confirmed. No surprises mid-build.

  • Material and finish selections
  • Appliance specifications
  • Lighting and plumbing fixture selections
  • Detailed construction budget
  • Final contract and schedule

Expert
Construction

Once the plans are approved and selections locked, our team begins. We handle permitting, site prep, foundation, framing, mechanicals, and every finish ourselves — no subcontractors you've never met.

You'll have direct access to your project manager throughout the build. Weekly update calls, a live project schedule, and a documented punch list at every phase milestone.

  • Foundation & framing
  • Mechanical rough-ins (electrical, plumbing, HVAC)
  • Insulation & drywall

The Honest Part

What most builders
won't tell you.

Building a custom home takes longer than most people expect — and that's a feature, not a bug. The reason our homes turn out the way they do is that we don't rush selection, planning, or construction to hit an arbitrary deadline.

A typical JDC custom home takes 10 to 14 months from signed contract to keys. Homes with complex sites, specialty materials, or large footprints can take longer. We'll give you a realistic schedule on day one — and we'll stick to it.

Common Questions

You probably have a few.

How much does a custom home cost with JDC?

Every home is different, and we won't give you a number until we understand your program, site, and selections. What we can tell you: we build luxury custom homes in the $600,000–$2M+ range, and our detailed pre-construction budget process means you'll have a firm number before any work begins.

Do I need to own land already?

Not necessarily. We can help you evaluate sites, and we work with several local real estate partners. But we're also happy to work with a site you've already selected.

What makes JDC different from a national or semi-custom builder?

We build one home at a time. While founders Jason and Lisa Cox oversee our rigorous standards, you'll work directly with our dedicated project managers — not a detached sales team. Every decision gets the attention it deserves.
